Whenever someone told me to enjoy my college years because they would “fly by”, I would smile before supplying a concurring quip. In actuality, I was slightly annoyed upon hearing advice of that sort; part of it being my aversion to clichés, and remarks about taking advantage of youth feeling especially trite. The majesty of the great outdoors is a luxury that many Poly students fail to take advantage of. Utica has its nice areas, but I never truly appreciated Upstate New York until I first set foot in its mountains over a year after starting college.

Pizza is a universal food that most enjoy. It’s easily customizable, from its endless combinations of toppings and various crusts which can conform to different taste buds and even dietary restrictions. New York City is known for their great $1 slices, but here in Utica, even if you won’t find slices at that bargain, there are quality restaurants in the area.
Utica is home to a diverse population. From the numerous of immigrants and refugees that migrated to the area, the one thing the city never lacks is the rich culture which spawns from local, regional, and international groups. This culture brings in new traditions, new ideas and most importantly, new recipes.
