Relay for Life @ SUNY Poly - March 31st – April 1st
It’s that time of the year again SUNY Poly, and I am not talking about March Madness. The second annual Relay for Life is quickly approaching, and the planning committee and I have been spending countless hours to bring you the best Relay for Life that SUNY Poly has ever seen. This year, Relay will kick off on March 31st at 7 PM in the field house, doors will open at 6:30 PM for registration and sign in. The opening ceremony will start at 7:30pm and we will continue walking, running, and having a blast through the night until 7am. For this year’s event, we wanted to make everything original so there are going to be very few similarities between this year’s event and last year’s. We will have a hotdog eating contest (sponsored by Sodexo), Kan Jam Tournament (sponsored by Ultimate Frisbee Club), Dance Contest, Lip Sync Battle, Alumni/Comedian Elliot O’Reilly (sponsored by Alumni Student Network), Pie in the Face and much, much more. This event is going to be 12 hours jam packed with nothing but fun and excitement, all while raising money for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society assists with things like co-pays, lodging, rides to treatment, and much more. Our fundraising goal for 2017 is $30,000 and regardless of whether we meet this goal or not, we can still try to get everyone on our campus to come together for a 12-hour event so survivors don't have to fight this battle alone. They have all of us and we will all help them and support them through their journey as much as we can. I hope to see the field house flooded with the student body on March 31st and on behalf of Colleges against Cancer and the Relay for Life planning committee, I thank everyone at SUNY Poly for your continued support of this wonderful event.
